Make a Splash at Martin County Libraries This Summer!!

This year’s theme for the children’s Summer Reading Program is Make a Splash—READ!  Martin County Library System promises preschool- through middle school-age children an ocean full of activities throughout the summer—stories, crafts, workshops and performances.

Jump into the fun!  There’ll be Hawaiian dancing, an Egyptian adventure, African drumming, creative writing, puppet shows, bingo, cartooning, wild animals and more!  For information on these and other great family programs pick up a Library Connection or a summer reading flier at any Martin County library or visit

The reading program begins June 12.  To participate and receive rewards for reading, visit Children’s World to pick up a reading log.  You can win prizes, books and even a super-cool back-to-school lunch bag!   You’ll get a sticker for each day you read or listen to a story for more than 20 minutes.  The more days you read, the more prizes you win!

  • Read one day and pick one draw from the Children’s World treasure chest.
  • Read five days and win one book and one draw.
  • Read 10 days, win one draw; 15 days, one book.
  • Read 20 days and win one book and one draw.
  • Read 30 days and win one lunch bag (one per child, please).

This reading incentive program ends after you pass 30 days, or August 14—just before school starts—but we encourage you to keep diving into books all summer long!

Program funding is provided by the six MCLS Friends groups. All books, prizes and advertising have been provided by the Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc.  For more information, visit the MCLS Web site, call 772/221-1403 or stop by Children’s World at any of the following Martin County libraries:
