The Barefoot Movement live in concert January 11 at Robert Morgade Library

For immediate release: December 11, 2013
Contact: Samuel McKee, Martin County Library System, Public Relations, 772-463-3205

The Barefoot Movement, an Americana/folk quartet from Tennessee, will perform Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Robert Morgade Library, 5851 SE Community Dr, Stuart FL 34997, as a part of the Journey Stories Concert Series. No tickets or reservations required.

Performing original and traditional old-time string music, the quartet consists of singer and fiddler Noah Wall, guitarist Quentin Acres, mandolinist Tommy Norris and bassist Hasee Ciaccio. Lyrics are written by Wall and are largely based on her personal experiences. The group’s debut album “Footwork” was released in June 2011. 2013 brings the release of a new album, cross country touring, and all manners of shoeless excitement.
The Barefoot Movement’s unique name evolved from Wall’s penchant to remove her shoes during shows, which conveys their down-home feel and relaxed atmosphere. They have extensively traveled the east coast, performing with or opening for artists like Ricky Skaggs, Peter Rowan, Jim Lauderdale and Dale Ann Bradley. With extensive praise for their original music and style, The Barefoot Movement will be a concert to remember.

In just over one year of working together, Maksin and Gogova have performed nearly 100 concerts in the United States and Europe. They have appeared on National Public Radio and many of its affiliate stations throughout the U.S., as well as on national radio programs in Poland, Bulgaria and Russia. Outside classical music, Maksin has collaborated with such artists as Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Estefan, Barry Gibb of the former Bee Gees, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg, to name a few. His main goal as an artist is “to close the musical gap between generations and societies and make cello music accessible for everyone.”

Gogova has appeared in solo recitals and concerts with orchestras in Bulgaria, Italy, Serbia, England, Slovenia, Romania, Portugal, Macedonia and throughout the U.S. In 2003, she was appointed to the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University becoming the youngest professor to join the world-renowned faculty of the Music Conservatory.
