Treasure Coast Hospice to present at all six Martin County library locations beginning February 5

Treasure Coast Hospice is visiting all six Martin County libraries beginning Wednesday, February 5 at Robert Morgade Library, 5851 SE Community Dr, Stuart and concluding Wednesday, May 21 at Hoke Library, 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach. A schedule with descriptions follows.

Start the Conversation: Thinking Through Your Healthcare Decisions
Many people struggle with how to talk with their loved ones about what matters most to them for end of life care. The Conversation Project© is dedicated to helping people begin to talk about their end of life care. This workshop provides practical tips to help you think about how to approach discussing your plans with your loved ones.

Continue the Conversation: Tips on Talking to your Doctor so Your Wishes are Heard
Once you’ve talked with your loved ones, the next step is to have a conversation with your doctor. With help from The Conversation Project ©, this workshop will help you prepare yourself for the conversation with any member of your health care team.

Pet Loss: Support and Guidance for Healing After the Death of a Pet
Faithful companions and treasured family members, pets bring joy and comfort to our lives. When a beloved pet dies, it is natural to grieve. If you are grieving the loss of a pet, we would like to share out comfort, support and guidance in your time of loss. In this program, you will learn the normal, natural symptoms of grief and receive practical advice for handling issues uniquely related to the loss of a four-legged friend.

Grieving Beyond Gender: Understanding the Ways Men and Women Mourn
In their recent book, Kenneth Doka and Terry Martin tackle common stereotypes and misconceptions about grief and mourning. In this program, we will explore Doka and Martin’s “continuum of grief” and discuss what factors, including gender, influence how people experience and respond to loss.

Five Wishes
“Five Wishes” is an easy-to-understand workbook that will help you get down in writing your personal, medical, legal and spiritual wishes and then give them the effect of law. Representatives of Treasure Coast Hospice invite you to a hands-on workshop to discuss the choices of each “wish.” Whether you have had the conversation with your loved ones yet or not, this tool will be a great supplement to discussing your healthcare decisions. **Each participant will receive a Five Wishes workbook at no charge**
