Six-week women’s literature book study group begins Jan. 16 at Hoke Library

Women in Literature Part XII, a six-session book study group facilitated by Gail Johnson, will take place 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm Thursday, Jan. 16, Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20 in the Community Room of the Hoke Library, 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach. Funded by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc., the events are free and open to the public.

These discussions center around books with issues of interest in today’s world. The books, usually by women authors, feature characters, conflicts and themes that resonate in our lives. A limited number of books are available at the Service Desk of the library. For assistance ask one of the Public Services library staff. Please call 772-463-2870 to register.

Book discussion schedule: 
Jan. 16 “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee; Jan. 30 “Girl in Hyacinth Blue” by Susan Vreeland; Feb. 6 “Women and Fiction” edited by Susan Cahill (five selected short stories from this anthology—to be assigned at first discussion); Feb. 20 “Drowning Ruth” by Christina Schwartz; March 6 “A Thread of Grace” by Mary Doria Russell;
March 20 “Enemy Women” by Paulette Jiles”
