Carl Keske, Capt. USNR (ret.) to present WWII Film Series at Blake library starting January 15

Beginning Wednesday, January 15 through Wednesday, March 19 from 10 to 11 am, Carl Keske, USNR (ret.) will present a ten-part World War II Film Series at the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Rd, Stuart, FL 34996.

The film series presents the History Channel’s Battle 360 program, focusing on the WWII-era aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and making extensive use of computer animation, combined with documentary footage, as well as interviews of USS Enterprise crew members and military historians, Battle 360 depicts the story of this infamous vessel.

A schedule with descriptions follows:

1/15 – “Call to Duty”
The attack on Pearl Harbor, the entry of the United States into World War II, the Marshall Islands Raid, and the Doolittle Raid.

1/22 – “Vengeance at Midway”
The Battle of Midway.

1/29 – “Jaws of the Enemy”
The Solomon Islands campaign and the battle for Guadalcanal.

2/5 – “Bloody Santa Cruz”
The Solomon Islands campaign and the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands.

2/12 – “Enterprise versus Japan”
Fighting in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal as the only American aircraft carrier active in the Pacific theater of war.

2/19 – “The Grey Ghost”
The refitting of the Enterprise, and the battle for the Gilbert Islands.

2/26 – “Hammer of Hell”
Assaulting Truk Lagoon as part of Operation Hailstone, including the first night radar bombing attack from a U.S. carrier.

3/5 – “D-Day in the Pacific”
The Battle of the Philippine Sea, the largest aircraft carrier battle in history.

3/12 – “Battle of Leyte Gulf”
The Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle of World War II.

3/19 – “The Empire’s Last Stand”
The battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, night sorties, attacks by kamikazes, the end of World War II, and the legacy of the Enterprise.
