The second in a four-part series of concerts held September 2013 through April 2014 in partnership with the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society and the Martin County Library System takes place Saturday, November 16 at 3:00 pm at the Hobe Sound Public Library, 10595 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound. The one-hour concert is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.

The November 16 performer Jan Wissmuller will focus on the music of Fernando Sor (1778-1839). Sor, described by at least one contemporary as the “Beethoven of the guitar,” was among the greatest composers for the instrument during its first great period.

Jan Wissmuller came to Florida in 2010 by way of New England and California. He studied music at MIT, the University of Toronto and Harvard University and has taught music theory and composition at Boston University. He was an active member of the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society and is the current Secretary for the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society.

The Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Concert Series continues January 11 at the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, and April 26 at the Elisabeth Lahti Library, 15200 SW Adams Avenue, Indiantown.

The Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society is a community for classical guitar enthusiasts to promote appreciation of the classical guitar, provide opportunities for guitarists of all levels to meet and play together, and sponsor professional concerts. For more information, visit
