A child reads at the Peter & Julie Cummings Library in Palm City.

Please join the Friends of the Martin County Library System in putting a gift book into the hands of a deserving child this season. Our Season’s Readings goal is 300 books to be given to 3- to 5-year-olds enrolled in a Martin County program with the Early Learning Coalition. With your help it will be easy!

Beginning Nov. 5, just…
• Visit your local library and choose a paper gingerbread person bearing a child’s first name and age. Add your name and telephone number to the list in the notebook on the circulation counter.
• Using our recommended book list on the counter as a guide, purchase an age appropriate, nonreligious, hardcover book from your favorite bookseller.
• Return your book AND gingerbread person to the library circulation desk by Dec. 7.

A volunteer will see that your book is presented to the child you have chosen. Thank you for giving and spreading the joy of reading!
