The Martin County Library System (MCLS) offered a chance to wipe out library fines in exchange for food for House of Hope, and for the third year in a row, thousands of pounds of food were donated to Martin County residents in need.

During Food For Fines week, Sept. 9 – 14, over 3,200 pounds of food were collected. Patrons brought overdue library items along with non-perishable food to the circulation desks of all Martin County libraries. All fines for items returned late were forgiven. Thank you to all who participated!

This is the third year MCLS has joined with House of Hope in the Food For Fines effort. In total, Martin County libraries have collected more than 12,700 pounds of food.

House of Hope is a nonprofit agency that provides food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance and case management services to Martin County residents in need.
