First in the series on Saturday, September 28, Rowdy Carlton presents a contrast in both geography and romanticism centered on the differences between Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909), the earliest of the romantic guitar composers, and Brazil’s late romantic composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959).

Rowdy Carlton has studied classical guitar since 1990. He received a full scholarship for study from 2006 – 2009 from internationally-renowned guitarist Constantinos Jaferis. He shared the stage on several occasions with Jaferis, performing works by the great composers as well as Carlton’s own transcriptions. He also taught guitar at Bach’s Children Music School in Stuart from 2004 – 2011, where he now serves as artistic director. He is a founding member and president of the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society.

The Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society is a community for classical guitar enthusiasts to promote appreciation of the classical guitar, provide opportunities for guitarists of all levels to meet and play together, and sponsor professional concerts. For more information, visit
