Seminar and book fair of local authors happening Sept. 28 at Blake Library

The Martin County Library System presents Put It in Writing, a seminar and book fair of two dozen local authors, on Saturday, September 28 at the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart. The event takes place from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in the John F. Armstrong Wing. Free and open to the public, Put It in Writing is funded by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc.


Les Standiford

Following a keynote address by renowned author Les Standiford, Master of Ceremonies Gene Hull will introduce authors and moderate questions and answers. There will be opportunities for all involved to ask questions, mingle and share writing, reading and publishing experiences. Books will be available for purchase.

Les Standiford is a historian and author and has been director of Florida International University’s Creative Writing program since 1985. He received the Frank O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, a Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in Fiction, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Fiction. He belongs to the Association of Writers & Writing Programs, Mystery Writers of America, and the Writers Guild of America.

Former noted musician, conductor and music producer Gene Hull has been writing books and poetry for the last 15 years. He has authored four books, including the award-winning memoir Chasing the Muse. Hull resides in Fort Pierce where he devotes his time to writing and the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society.
