SHINE returns for free Medicare presentations at all Martin County libraries

SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is visiting all six libraries in the Martin County Library System throughout September for free “Medicare Part D” and “Medicare Financial Assistance Programs” presentations. SHINE supports the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ mission by providing free and unbiased health insurance counseling through a dedicated network of volunteers, empowering Florida seniors to make informed health care choices.

Presentation Schedule:
• Sept. 4 – 1:30 pm – Medicare Part D, Peter & Julie Cummings Library, 2551 SW Matheson Ave, Palm City
• Sept. 10 – 1:30 pm – Medicare Financial Assistance Programs, Hobe Sound Public Library, 10595 SE Federal Hwy, Hobe Sound
• Sept. 12 – 1:30 pm – Medicare Financial Assistance Programs, Robert Morgade Library, 5851 SE Community Dr, Stuart
• Sept. 17 – 1:30 pm – Medicare Part D, Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Rd, Stuart
• Sept. 18 – 1:30 pm – Medicare Financial Assistance Programs, Elisabeth Lahti Library, 15200 SW Adams Ave, Indiantown
• Sept. 24 – 10:30 am – Medicare Financial Assistance Programs, Hoke Library, 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach

“Medicare Part D” is conducted by specially-trained SHINE volunteers and helps attendeesunderstand their prescription drug benefits, the ins and outs of eligibility and enrollment, and teaches how to choose a Medicare drug plan.

“Medicare Financial Assistance Programs” explains in detail how to save money every month through Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help. Volunteers will also assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families and caregivers with Medicare and health insurance questions.
