The Peter & Julie Cummings Library, located at 2551 SW Matheson Avenue in Palm City, is host to the second film in the six-part Journey Stories Film Festival series on Friday, June 14 at 1:30 pm. This second film depicts fugitive slaves and internal migrations.

Each of the six films illustrates a theme featured in the traveling Smithsonian exhibit, Museum on Main Street: Journey Stories, and details the journeys and migrations of people trekking to and across America seeking freedom, opportunity, land, wealth or adventure. Free and open to the public, there will be one film shown at each library location.

This presentation, one of several Journey Stories events for adults, is brought to you by a grant received from the Florida Humanities Council, to complement the Museum on Main Street: Journey Stories traveling exhibition presented by the Smithsonian Museum. The exhibit will be on display at the Elisabeth Lahti Library October 19 through November 30. Eighteen months of events exploring Journey Stories themes will take place at Martin County libraries leading up to and immediately following the Smithsonian exhibit.
