Summer writing contest for teens underway

Calling all teens! Do you love to write? The Hoke Library in Jensen Beach is holding a teen writing contest in two divisions —poetry and fiction. Submit your best work to ecastle@martin.fl.us by 11:59 p.m. on June 30. Prizes include gift cards to Barnes & Noble. For more information, please call 772-463-2870.

Rules:

• Open to contestants ages 13-19 from Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.
• Please include your name, age and email address on your manuscript.
• All pieces must be under 5,000 words (name, age, email address and title are not tallied in the word count).
• No fan fictions. Work must be original and not contain copyrighted characters.
• Manuscripts must be typed, in readable 11 or 12 point font.
