(STUART, FL)The Martin County Library System joins libraries and organizations nationwide in celebrating Money Smart Week® April 20-27. Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign to promote financial literacy across all age groups. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the American Library Association (ALA), the Financial Planning Association, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Cooperative Extension.

Money Smart Week partnered with the ALA in 2010 to launch Money Smart Week @ your library nationally. Throughout Money Smart Week’s ten year history, libraries have been instrumental in facilitating and hosting quality events and the Martin County Library System is no exception!  From budgeting to identity theft to saving for college and retirement, MCLS presents 16 Money Smart Week events for children, teens and adults. Events are coordinated and hosted by partnering organizations including local banks, universities, government agencies and community groups. Free shredding services will also be provided by All Points Mobile Shredding. Secure bins will be available to drop off documents at all six library branches from April 20-26.
