Teen dating and healthy relationships/Pareja adolecentes y relaciones saludables – Feb. 20 seminar for parents

Dr. Maria Elena Villar speaks to parents on their role in teen dating and healthy relationships Wednesday, February 20 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Elisabeth Lahti Library, 15200 S.W. Adams Avenue, Indiantown. Dr. Villar gives parents the resources necessary for communicating with their teens on respect, self-esteem and what dating means. The seminar will be conducted in Spanish.

Dr. Villar is assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Florida International University. In her career as a researcher, she has focused on diverse topics that range from social determinants of disease and health, family and youth violence, mental health and drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, evaluation of program outcomes and community coalitions for social change.  

A part of the Our Kids! Parent Seminar Series, the workshop is hosted by Tykes & Teens, CHARACTER COUNTS!, The Martin County Library System and The Martin County School District. It is free and open to the public.
