Archaeologist Katie Smith will share her research about the bioarchaeology of the Belle Glade culture on Wednesday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Robert Morgade Library. Based on the analysis of human skeletal remains, the presentation details the physical characteristics, diet and nutrition, health and disease and other social and cultural characteristics of the people of Belle Glade. Smith is currently a graduate student at Florida Atlantic University, working toward her second master’s degree in archaeology.

The Robert Morgade Library is located at 5851 S.E. Community Drive on the Chastain Campus of Indian River State College, Stuart. The talk is free and open to the public.

This presentation, one of several Belle Glade Culture events for adults, is brought to you by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc., to complement the We Were Here Viva Florida 500 traveling exhibition presented by the Lawrence E. Will Museum: A Museum of the Belle Glades, on display at the Robert Morgade Library March 4-23.
