Veteran Chautauqua performer Betty Jean Steinshouer will present “A Chautauqua on Florida History:  Three Views,” those of three beloved authors – Harriet Beecher Stowe, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Marjory Stoneman Douglas – each focusing on Florida’s conquistadors, cowboys and crooks. The presentation will be Friday, January 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Blake Library, John F. Armstrong Wing, 2351 SE Monterey Rd., Stuart, and Saturday, January 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hobe Sound Public Library, Community Room, 10595 S.E. Federal Hwy., Hobe Sound.
Steinshouer has toured the United States since 1988 with her literary Chautauqua-style portrayals of great women authors. She, too, is an author. Her book, Running South in Agitation, is an extensive study of Florida’s impact on eight authors.
