Learn about ID theft at Robert Morgade Library September 20


Theresa Ronnebaum, Identity Theft Program Specialist with the Office of the Attorney General, will give a presentation on identity theft Thursday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Anderson Community Room of the Robert Morgade Library, located at 5851 SE Community Drive on the Chastain Campus of the Indian River State College in Stuart.  The event is free.

• What Is ID Theft
• What Is Personal Information Under Florida Law
• Types of ID Theft
• Ways to Avoid Scams (i.e., grandparent scams, online romance scams, sweepstakes scams)

• Resources and How to Report a Scam or ID Theft.

Theresa Ronnebaum has spent the last 16 years committed to the criminal justice system and the field of advocacy.  Ms. Ronnebaum has served as a county probation officer, a victim advocate in sex crimes, domestic violence and child abuse units, and also held a regional victim services position with her current employer, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. 

In 2002, Ms. Ronnebaum broke new ground as the first known federally funded identity theft program specialist position in Florida.  Over the last decade she has appeared on local television programs, as well as ABC news “20/20.”  As a consultant with Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC), she has trained throughout the country on the topic of identity theft and fraud.
