Singing group Sha-Boom will perform a medley of popular doo-wop and oldies songs Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cummings Library in Palm City. Part of Martin County Library System’s 2012 Chautauqua South arts and education series, the one-hour concert is the fourth of five in the Elisabeth Lahti Concert Series.

Sha-Boom was formed in 2001 in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and is led by Sal Giarraffa, one of the original members of the legendary Doo-wop group, the Arrogants, which was formed in 1959 in Brooklyn, New York. The Arrogants performed on street corners and at show clubs and dances in New York City’s vibrant Doo-wop scene of the early nineteen sixties. The Arrogants recorded the songs “Mirror, Mirror,” listed as one of the top 1,000 Doo-wop songs of all time in The Encyclopedia of Oldies Doo-wop (2006); and “Canadian Sunset,” which has remained a Doo-wop staple, appearing on multiple Oldies and Doo-wop compilations over three decades.

Join Sal, his sister Connie Sacco, John Iaci and David Valpatic for jokes, stories and street corner harmony at its best!
