Florida Oceanographic Society Coast Lecture Series Begins Jan. 9 with Everglades Talk by Society Executive Director

Florida Oceanographic Society Coastal Lecture Series

 

Mark Perry, “The Everglades: Past, Present and Future”

 

In this talk, the first in an eight-part series presented by the Florida Oceanographic Society, Florida Oceanographic Society’s Executive Director, Mark Perry, will discuss ongoing efforts to revitalize the Everglades, known as the “River of Grass.”  

 

Mark has led the Society since 1978 in its mission of inspiring environmental stewardship of Florida’s coastal ecosystems through education and research.  Representing Florida Oceanographic, he is the Vice Chairman of The Rivers Coalition, a longtime member of and former Co-Chair of the Everglades Coalition, an author of many technical and non-technical publications, and a member of Federal, State and Regional committees on the planning and management of Florida’s coastal environments.  Continually involved in Everglades restoration initiatives, Mark also testified before the Senate Agriculture Committee in Washington D.C. on Sugar Reform. 

 

The series continues Jan. 23, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 5, March 26, April 9 and April 23.
