WHAT:           Baseball @ the Blake:  Insights from an Insider

 

Presented by Hal Evans and Robert R. Farley
Just in time for the beginning of the World Series, Robert R. Farley and

Hal Evans will present Baseball @ the Blake: Insights from an Insider

2:00 p.m. October 18 at the Blake Library in Stuart.  Sponsored by the

Friends of the Blake Library in Stuart, Inc., the one-hour program is free

and open to the public.  No tickets or reservations are required.

 

Hal Evans, creative designer for the Major League Baseball Commissioner’s Office, will talk about the trials and tribulations of America’s favorite pastime during his tenure there (1976-1991) under four commissioners.  Among his discussion points will be topics dominating the news during that 15-year period:  free agency, the Yankee resurgence, Philly and Met championships and the Pete Rose gambling scandal.  Mr. Evans also will discuss his role with the annual All Star game, Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and the World Series. 

 Robert R. Farley, professor of history at Indian River State College, will provide background information.
