Library System Joins with Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society to Present Five-Part Concert Series Beginning Oct. 8

Classical guitar concert series begins October 8

at Elisabeth Lahti Library


WHO:                  Martin County Library System in cooperation with the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society


WHAT:            Classical Guitar Concert Series – Concert One:  Rowdy Carlton


Martin County Library System is partnering with the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society to present a series of classical guitar concerts at several of its libraries in October, December, January, February and March, beginning with an October 8 performance by Rowdy Carlton at the Elisabeth Lahti Library in Indiantown. 

Rowdy will play pieces by Isaac Albeniz, Augustin Barrios, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Constantinos Jaferis as well as one of his own compositions.

The concert is free and open to the public.  No tickets or reservations are needed.

Rowdy Carlton has studied classical guitar since 1990. In 2005, he submitted a composition to internationally renowned guitarist, Constantinos Jaferis, which resulted in a full scholarship for study from 2006-2009.  He had the opportunity to share the stage on several occasions with Constantinos, performing works by the great composers as well as Rowdy’s own transcriptions.  Rowdy taught guitar at Bach’s Children Music School in Stuart from 2004-2011 where he now serves as artistic director.  He is a founding member and treasurer of the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society.

The Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society was formed in November 2010 as A community for classical guitar enthusiasts to promote appreciation of the classical guitar, provide opportunities for guitarists of all levels to meet and play together, and to sponsor professional concerts.”  Members of the Board of Directors are Joette Giorgis, president, Rowdy Carlton, treasurer, Jan Wissmuller, secretary,  and Luis Ernesto Rivera, Paul Colletti, and Freeman Sherrill. Joette Giorgis served as president of the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society in 2009 before moving to the Treasure Coast.  By partnering with the Martin County Library System, the guitar society hopes to spread their love of the classical guitar to the greatest number people possible on the Treasure Coast.  Visit the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society website at
