Library Offers Fine Forgiveness for Food Donations on April Fridays

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MARCH 28, 2011

Library system announces Food for Fines Fridays in April

WHO:             Martin County Library System

WHAT:           Food for Fines Fridays, April 2011

Have you stayed away from the library because you have fines?  Do you still have that old copy of A Land Remembered you keep forgetting to return?  Don’t give up—we’ll forgive you!   Just come to any Martin County library on any Friday in April and do a good deed for House of Hope at the same time!

With “Food for Fines Fridays,” if you bring in a non-perishable food item during library hours on any Friday in April, all of your fines for items that have been returned late will be forgiven.

Donations of food will allow for cancellation of older OVERDUE fines as well as for any item you might bring in along with your food donation.  Bills for LOST (never returned) items will not be included in this offer.

The food will be given to House of Hope, the primary provider of food to the hungry in Martin County.  Last year, House of Hope provided the equivalent of about 237,000 meals—about one-third feeding hungry children.

WHEN:           Friday, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
