Lessons of Presidential Greatness and Failures

Presented by Robert P. Watson, Ph.D.

Professor, author and political commentator Robert P. Watson, Ph.D., will present “Lessons of Presidential Greatness and Failures” as part of Martin County Library System’s Chautauqua South Lifelong Learning series Tuesday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the Blake Library in Stuart.

The talk will examine how scholars rate and rank our presidents.  Dr. Watson will list the best and worst (according to the expert polls) for the audience and include entertaining examples of the good and bad (and ugly!) decisions from history.  He also will explore the importance of presidential character and some of the lessons learned from presidential history.

Robert P. Watson, Ph.D. is professor of American Studies at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2010, and both directs the American Studies program and teaches a wide array of courses on American politics and history.  He received the International Abraham Lincoln Center’s award for his contributions to the study of the presidency. 

Watson appears regularly on regional television networks and has been interviewed by numerous media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the BBC, NPR, C-SPAN’s Book TV and Hardball with Chris Matthews among others.
