host events to celebrate library reopening

(Stuart, FL) – Friends of the Hobe Sound Library are hosting two events to commemorate the reopening of the Hobe Sound Public Library, located at 10595 SE Federal Highway in Hobe Sound, and invite all to attend.

The first of two events is set to take place at 2 p.m., on the reopening of the Hobe Sound Public Library, Wednesday, January 26, 2011, when Tina Sloan will make a special author appearance. A Jupiter Island resident, Sloan began her career as an actress playing the role of nurse Lillian Raines on Guiding Light. She is the author of the always entertaining and engaging book, Changing Shoes: Getting Older – Not Old – With Style, Humor, and Grace. Following her book reading, Sloan will be signing copies of Changing Shoes, which will be available for purchase, and the Friends of the Hobe Sound Library will provide refreshments.

On Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 2 p.m., there will be a performance by The Porchdogs, a band formed in 1992 by Orlando residents Andy Burr and Greg Taillon. The band is known for its lively Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco music, and is also a featured act at the world famous Iron Horse Saloon during Daytona’s Bike Week and Biketoberfest. The Porch Dogs concert is the second of two events hosted by the Friends of the Hobe Sound Library to celebrate the reopening of the Hobe Sound Public Library. Free tickets will be necessary to attend.

Both events are free and open to the public. Free tickets will be available for the Porchdogs concert beginning 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the Hobe Sound Public Library.
