Monthly Open Mic Series Begins Oct. 7 at Blake Library

Blake Library to host first open mic event, Figures of Speech:

 Taking the Stage with Original Works

 

 

(Stuart, FL) – The Blake Library, located at 2351 SE Monterey Road in Stuart, FL, will launch its first open mic event, Figures of Speech, Thursday, October 7 at  6:00 p.m. in the John F. Armstrong Wing.

All ages are invited to attend and participate. Individuals are asked to come prepared to take to the stage with their original works of fiction, poetry and music.

Once the doors open at 6:00 p.m. on October 7 each participant will sign up for a specific time slot to present his or her work. Five minutes will be allotted to each performer. No reservations are required for audience members.

The next open mic event following this October 7 launch will take place the first Thursday of November and be emceed by Jackie Williams, volunteer host and producer of the MCTV Channel 20 “Pets on Parade” show. The series continues the first Thursday of every month.

Funded by the Friends of the Blake Library in Stuart, Inc., the event is free and open to the public.
