Check Out These Cool Teen Summer Reading Programs and Events!

Martin County Library System offers teens cool summer reading adventures

WHO:                   Program funding provided by the six MCLS Friends groups. Prizes and advertising have been provided by the Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc.

 

WHAT:                  Teen Summer Reading Programs – Make Waves @ Your Library!

Starting June 12, Martin County Library System’s Teen Summer Reading Program is in full swing!  Submit book reviews on our teen Web site (www.library.martin.fl.us) until August 21 to earn volunteer hours or win raffle tickets for a Sony Pocket eBook Reader.  The Teen Summer Reading Program is open to students entering 6th through 12th grades

FANFICTION CONTEST

Attention all writers!

Hoke Library, 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach

Hoke Library Teen Advisory Board is sponsoring a creative writing or a fanfiction writing contest. Submit your original poetry, plays or short stories to Hoke Library. Or use your favorite book, movie or TV characters and create your own story based on their lives. All ages welcome! Deadline July 31. For more information call Darlene or Maureen at 772-463-2870.

MAKING WAVES ART CONTEST

Hoke Library, 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach

We will be accepting artwork from grades 6-12. The deadline is 5:30 p.m. July 31. Please submit any art medium within the 20” x 20” limitation including underwater photography with your name and age attached to the work. Winners will receive the grand prize and all art will be displayed in the library.

Join us for a showing of an Anime movie! For ages 12 and up.

A young girl named Sophie is cursed by a witch and given an old woman’s body. Ashamed of how she looks, she flees to the woods and happens upon Wizard Hauru’s strange Moving Castle. While in the castle, Sophie makes a deal with a demon named Calcifer who can return her to her 18-year-old self. Snacks will be provided.

Eating  ice cream is delicious, making it is very easy. Come to the library and learn in a funny experiment how milk, sugar, salt and ice can become creamy ice cream and why the famous ice pop expands from liquid to frozen.
