Volunteer During Dr. Seuss Days—Sign Up NOW to Attend Seuss-A-Bration Kickoff Orientation March 1 at Blake Library
Martin County Library System is seeking volunteers to participate in the annual literacy
event, Dr. Seuss Days, Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8. Children enrolled in
over 100 early education and care classrooms listen to a registered Seuss volunteer read a Seuss
book. The volunteer purchases the book and after reading it to the children, donates the book to
the classroom’s library for future enjoyment.
Join fellow pre-registered readers at the Seuss-A-Bration Kickoff Orientation, the traditional
annual “swearing-in” ceremony, on Thursday, March 1 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in the
John F. Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road in Stuart. In addition to
breakfast goodies, you will be given materials, instructions, and even a striped stovepipe hat.
The Cat in the Hat will be there, too, reading from a Seuss favorite. Barnes & Noble
Booksellers will be on-site as well, for the convenience of volunteers wishing to purchase an
age-appropriate Dr. Seuss book at a 20 percent discount.
Dr. Seuss Days and the kickoff orientation are presented with support from the Library
Foundation of Martin County. If you please, won’t you become a Dr. Seuss Days reader and
share the joy of reading with the children of Martin County? Pre-registration is required for
all new and returning volunteers. To sign up, call (772) 221-1401 or e-mail
sperez@martin.fl.us.
